More than 200 media outlets from 50 countries joined a global campaign on Monday to protest what Reporters Without Borders (RSF) described as the “deliberate massacre of journalists in Gaza” and to demand unrestricted access for international press to the enclave.

The initiative called on journalists and media workers to observe a one-minute silence at noon outside their offices or in newsrooms. Participating outlets displayed the message: “If the Israeli army continues killing journalists at this rate, soon there will be none left in Gaza to inform you.” RSF encouraged publications to adapt the message across platforms, from banners on websites to black screens on television and voiceovers on radio.
In Spain, the action was coordinated with major professional associations and unions, including FAPE, the Madrid Press Association, the Catalonia College of Journalists, and the Confederation of Journalists’ Unions. Spanish participants included Agencia EFE, RTVE, El País, Prensa Ibérica, La Sexta, ElDiario.es, Público, Revista 5W, InfoLibre, El Salto and Heraldo de Aragón.
Agencia EFE president Miguel Ángel Oliver called the situation “unbearable,” noting that despite “severe restrictions,” daily reporting continues “thanks to Palestinian journalists who risk their lives,” since international press remains barred from entering Gaza. RTVE announced it would take part across all its channels and platforms.
Internationally, the campaign was supported by outlets including Al Jazeera (Qatar), The Independent (UK), Mediapart (France), Der Freitag (Germany), Le Soir and La Libre Belgique (Belgium), New Bloom (Taiwan), Photon Media (Hong Kong), Media Today (South Korea), Il Dubbio (Italy), and Agência Pública (Brazil).
According to RSF, at least 250 journalists have been killed in Gaza over the past ten months—more than in any other conflict in modern history.
